A Ghanaian named Nana Addo who resides in the United States have been crowned with the top prize after he emerged as a winner in the Scripps Spelling Bee competition.
The competition comprised of the country’s top spellers who met at University of South Dakota to determine the overall best. The finals was held on Saturday, 18 March.
The spellers advanced through the school and regional competitions to qualify for the finals.
After advancing through school and regional competitions, 15 spellers competed for a chance to attend the Scripps National Spelling Bee hosted in Washington, D.C. May 28-June 2.
The second place finisher was Ryan Presler of Sioux Falls. Harshavardhan Kadarkaraisamy of Vermillion won third place.
