University of Cape Coast shuttle service plans to broaden its reach with an off-campus shuttle route starting today, April 19, in response to a request from the student body.
The shuttle service will run run from new site shuttle station through the Ayensu road to the Round Palace Hostel.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) announced this new development yesterday in their communique.
In the Council’s bid to ensure and improve on the welfare of students, the Executive committee has approved the running of a shuttle service to the diaspora.
As the Council awaits the delivery of two new buses procured by the previous and the current administration, the committee has arranged for the SRC Toyota hiace to run from new site shuttle station through the Ayensu road to the Round Palace Hostel , taking into consideration student’s lecture times.
In returning, the bus shall be stationed at the Newsite Shuttle Station to load students to the same routes.
We humbly request students to cope with this initial arrangement (this stage is a pilot stage ) as we work to add more buses, operate other routes such as the Amamoma and Kwaprow, and add timelines to the operations of shuttles to the diaspora to better it.
NB: The project is slated to start the pilot stage at 6am , 19/04/17 , charging the same shuttle fares
At its initial phase, we are aware of the disruption that may arise from taxi drivers on that same route, but with your strong corporation, we will be able handle some of these situations.
Again the leadership of our SRC will treasure every comment, feedback and suggestion on this service to ensure its progress going forward.
Students should not hesitate to call the transport committee head for more clarifications if any.
