NUGS Update: Matters Arising from the 2017 Congress

Elisha Essumang Oheneba

I want to put on records that there was a central committee meeting held at University of Ghana where all functions concerned with the division of our Union present and CC agreed on some venues for One congress which are

1. Methodist University College, Dansoman.
2. Pentecost Convention Center, Kasoa.

The Central Committee which is the second highest decision making body after Congress did not agree on any venue aside the above mentioned.

Moreover the Central Committee agreed on a date which was 16th November 2017 to 19th November 2017 so if the date was changed, there should have been an emergency CC for approval which did not happen.

Due to this, any gathering which did not happened on the said date and venue agreed by the central committee is considered NULL and VOID.

Again, the High Court ruling which mandated the remaining eight National Executive Officers to take charge of NUGS led by the General Secretary sent Invitation letters with the signature of the General Secretary calling for congress at Methodist University College, Dansoman. So any other letter signed by a different National Officer which was not the General Secretary calling for congress is NULL and VOID.

All news indicating the General Secretary went to chair a CC at VC Ghana Auditorium is false.

The General Secretary went to the said venue after some alleged stranded Ghanaian Students called on him to address them.

A video circulating with the General Secretary standing in front of some concern students can’t be called chairing of CC since the Chairman of the house don’t stand to coordinate the affairs of NUGS.

In conclusion the Central Committee at their last meeting agreed on a Date (16th to 19th November 2017) and Venue (Methodist University College, Dansoman) for one congress which was never changed by them (CC).
