SRC EC Refutes Postponement of Hall Election Rumors

Electoral Commissioner of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of KNUST, Mr. Prince Quaye has dismissed allegations on the conduct of Hall elections on campus which sought to suggest that all Hall elections will not be held within the second semester and that continuing students cannot contest for positions in the halls.

The SRC EC released the official election time table detailing the time and period for various level elections to be held. However, the date for elections to be held at the six traditional halls on KNUST campus was indicated as ‘pending’ until further notice.

This led to several students reading meaning as that Hall elections won’t be held attributing it to the decision by the University authorities to convert Unity and University Hall into Mix sex Halls, for that matter, only first year students were going to contest for positions next academic year.

But Mr. Prince Quaye has refuted all rumors and clarified that Hall elections will be held on the 5th of April, 2018.

According to him the date for Hall elections was indicated as ‘pending’ on the official election time table due to some tension intriguing issues which had to be solved before a clear date is set for elections to be held in all six Halls.
