KNUST student leaders fingered in GNPC sponsorship financial scandal


The Africa Hall president of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Winnifred Abotsi and her vice, Eunice Adjetey have been asked to step aside upon a revelation which suggests that the duo have conspired and embezzled an amount GH¢150,000 GNPC Sponsorship deal meant for the hall’s yearly Dormite pearl [a Beauty pageant]

In a letter dated 23rd March 2018 and sighted by,  the hall Warden Marian A. Nkansah (PhD) demanded the immediate step aside of the two for as a full-scale investigation to commence in what they describe as ‘criminal misconduct’.

The letter requested members of the university community to not under any grounds transact business with the duo on behalf of the hall pending the outcome of findings as to where the amount which was supposed to be used for the event was diverted.

Miss Winnifred Abotsi is currently vying for the school’s SRC presidential slot as she has already filed her nomination and awaiting vetting in early April with the latest being a major setback to her bid of leading the student body.

The two have declined comment when reached by but the revelation has led to students discussing the matter and demanding full disclosure of how the money was spent.

Others are of the view that this is a purely criminal matter and must, therefore, be handled by the police.
