Parliament approves law school entrance examinations

Parliament has passed the legal profession regulations 2018 LI 2355 albeit with strong protest from some members.

The LI also known as the professional and post law course follows a ruling by the supreme Court that among others the General Legal Council must have parliamentary approval before making changes to the entry requirement to the Ghana school of law.

The chairman of the subsidiary legislation committee, Mahama Ayariga presenting the committee report said the instrument is not in contravention of the constitution.

The chairman of the committee on Constitutional Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ben Abdallah Banda called on the Attorney General and General Legal Council to expedite action on moves to reform legal training in the country

The Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak for his part said the LI is restrictive and stands to block the chances of many accessing legal education
