The race to the top job in KNUST has began. Some students have started grooming themselves and have created camps already.
Several teams of ambitious young students have come forward with various eye-catching and hope-inspiring agenda and proposals in an attempt to optimize the efficiency of student leadership and governance.
Many of such teams are already crusading how they can transform the lives of the students’ populace within their tenure of office. They promise almost endlessly on the hostels they’ll build, students they will feed, scholarships they will provide and justice they will fight for among other policies.
Unfortunately, three aspirants for SRC positions in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are to go through disciplinary action for forging their Cumulated Weighted Average (CWA) in an attempt to meet the required CWA mark to contest for position in the Student Representative Council. Dean of KNUST Students’, Professor William Gariba has hinted.
Per KNUST SRC constitution 2011 as amended, the required CWA mark for an aspirant to contest for SRC position is between 55.0 to 59.99 without a trail or 60.0 above with at least a trail in a single course.
Prof. Gariba revealed to students during Students’ Chaplaincy Council service which was held at the Great Hall on Sunday March 25, 2018 to end this years’ SCC week celebration.
According to him, some students want to still contest for SRC position even though their CWAs are not up.
”Some of you want to put yourselves up for positions in SRC and other positions in the University, but your CWAs are not up and still some say they are seeking for remarking and what have you. We’re going to deal with issues as they are and not to wait for remarking, who knows when remarking is going to come?”, he queried.
He further revealed that some students have forged grades that they don’t have to be able to go through.
”I’m assuring you that we have gotten three students already and they are going to go through disciplinary action”, he stated.
Election.essienlive.com cannot confirm on record who those students are, but will keep you updated ASAP.
