Outlook: Meet the Rising Star in the Ghanaian Media From KNUST


Rising Star student journalist with extraordinary brand who has chalked a lot of success at the student journalism terrain. Known in the media landscape as Festus (FAM), he goes by the name Festus Akyuuro Mwinasong. He’s a final year student reading political studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology in Kumasi.

Completing his basic education at Tender Care school in East Legon he went on to Pope John Senior High school and minor Seminary where he studied general arts. Being active in sports he coupled it up with several other activities including being a debater and also a writer for the writers and drama club. His ability to speak fluently and sweetly in the Queens language was of no surprise since he often made announcements and speeches anywhere he was given the microphone.

He moved this ability a notch forward by joining Focus (94.3fm) the campus radio station for KNUST where he shortly after joining was made the deputy news editor and a news anchor. In less than a year after joining Focus fm He was given the opportunity to host his first program country Hills on Sunday mornings which he did with so much skill. Seeing how good he was, he was given the opportunity to host the morning show which he had to put on hold because of academic clashes all the while still holding the position as a deputy news editor and the host of country hills. He grew to further become the online editor of the website focusfmonline.com.

He currently is the Host of Saturday Night Live a three hour entertainment show which provides the best of music and entertainment news. He has been a host to several music artists in Ghana and holds a strong view of promoting and playing 98% Ghanaian music and content on His shows. This he has done so far with great style and skill. In addition to his radio skill, he possesses a great deal of humor which he puts to play largely as an MC.


He recently came out as the Best Radio Host of the year in the just ended KNUST NUGS Excellence Awards, and was also awarded the Best Student Journalist Male category in the Political Studies Students Association in KNUST. It has never been an easy task for even well-established people to blend up a lot of tasks but this young man with his education and all has provided great service and skill even under the circumstances.
