Concerned Students and some alumni at the University of Education, Winneba are planning to stage a peaceful protest against the acting Vice Chancellor at the University, Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni for supervising over what they described as a culture of silence in the school.

The concerned students alleged that, the acting vice chancellor whose tenure of office expired in February this year, has made the university’s environment very bad.

Leader of the concerned students Agyapong Osei Victor in an interview with ghfactsonline.com revealed the university has been embroiled with court cases ever since Prof. Afful Broni took the helm of affairs as the acting vice chancellor of the university.

Some of the court cases he mentioned are the 2018/2019 SRC general election, The University against some embattled officers at the Cape Coast high court and the Supreme Court.

He added that, lecturers are been dismissed without any basis and some students sacked from exam halls by the acting vice chancellor for wearing a shirt belonging to a pressure group at the university called Spartans.

Another action by Professor Afful Broni that angered the students is his recent order for the demolition of the Spartans palace and disbanding of all pressure groups at the university.

Mr. Agyapong questioned why Prof. Afful Broni will order for the demolishing of a structure belonging to the Spartans which was build under his tenure as the chief patron for the group in 2007/2008 academic year. He alleged the acting VC used Spartan members freely to build the Catholic Church in the university.
