KNUST To Represent Ghana In Jessup International Moot Court Competition


Students from the Faculty of Law of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) would represent Ghana at the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition.  The KNUST Law students would compete on the global stage with students from other countries on 31st March to 6th April, 2019 in Washington DC.

This was revealed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Mrs. Lydia Apori Nkansah, who together with the team, called on the Vice-Chancellor to announce their victory as national champions in the competition and to present their awards to management of the University. Prof. Mrs. Nkansah stated that the KNUST Law Team who participated with students from other faculties of law in other Ghanaian Universities at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, emerged winners, thus making them Ghana’s representatives in the global competition.

She noted that KNUST won awards for Best Memorial and the Overall Best Team in the competition. Miss Esther Aforo Ofosuhene was adjudged the Best Oralist. The Dean thanked the University management for its continuous support, making the team national champions for three consecutive times.


The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, congratulated the team for winning the competition for the third consecutive time and expressed his excitement on the fact that KNUST students are making headlines for positive reasons.

According to Professor Obiri-Danso, mentorship is key in the development of the youth. It was therefore good that Faculty members have groomed and offered training and development to the students. He pledged management’s support to the Team as they prepare to mount the world stage of the competition.

The KNUST Law Team is made up of Oliver Fobi, Esther Aforo Ofosuhene, Adwoa Twumwaa Owusu-Ansah, Ezekiel Oblitey Codjoe and Abena Achiaa Otuo. Dr. Ernest Owusu Dapaah, Dr. Samuel Adarkwa and Mr. Chris Nyinevi are the team’s coaches.
