GIJ SRC election: Joseph Agbezuke wins presidential race


Level 300 Journalism student, Joseph Agbezuke, popularly known as Sir Joe, has been elected as the Students Representative Council President of the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Joseph Agbezuke beat 6 others to get the SRC top job for the 2019/2020 academic year.

Out of the 1,966 votes cast, Joseph Agbezuke garnered 346 votes.

His runner-up, Fauzu Masawudu, followed quite closely with 262 votes.

He succeeds Emmanuel Kumah.

Aside congratulatory messages from sympathizers, some of the students who contested with him have sent their messages of well-wishes.

They have also expressed their readiness to help Agbezuke in the running of the SRC.

With this victory, students of the Communication-specialized school will be looking forward to the fulfillment Joseph’s over 5 major campaign promises, which have been described by some as very ambitious.

Some of his promises include establishing an SRC Digital Studio and providing a more reliable internet access for students of the Institute.

Other Winners

Other winners during the election, which was held on Friday and Saturday, are Patrick Nambe for the office of General Secretary, Cedric Keleli Afewu as Organizing Secretary and Joana Daglah as Treasurer.

The rest are Michael Elorm Zah and Adams Bintu Charlotte as External Affairs and Women’s Commissioners respectively.
