A group of Kyambogo university finalists in Uganda has vowed to petition court after the university denied their requests for a late addition onto the graduation list which is only a few days away.

In a statement pinned on the noticeboards around the university, the university states that the reason is that their results were not recommended by the Senate Science and Senate Humanities thus could not be considered by the main senate for approval under the Kyambogo University Regulations and Procedures.

Consequently, the affected parties will not have their names appearing on the 16th Graduation ceremony list. This did not go down well with many of them who have been following up their cases since November, however, their efforts have not yielded much.

The students claim that they are not at fault and that the impasse is due to the failure of the University administration to correct errors in their marks. The students further state that the university will not release a list called the ‘addendeum’ which indicates the students with complaints about their graduation status.

According to the Kyambogo University administration, 20 students who are eligible to graduate will miss the graduation ceremony since their marks were not screened and verified by the required officers on time

We shall give those students their transcripts but they will not be able to attend the graduation ceremony. They will be able to attend it next year after their marks have undergone the right channels for verification
